staff: Now testing: “Read More” breaks Inserting a break will truncate your post so readers need to click “Read More” to view it in its entirety. Any of us who used LiveJournal know this as <lj-cut>, and that’s fine: I didn’t really use it then, and probably won’t use it now. But, while Tumblr’s at it, it’d be great to get <lj user> (link to other...

NYC Marathon - Team for Kids
My brother is running the New York City Marathon next month as a member of Team for Kids, which supports running programs for children to help battle obesity while building character and camaraderie. It’s a good cause, and I’d appreciated your donation, however large or small. Make sure to note Gary Nakhuda and marathon entry # 344464. Donate Now

Search Engine Optimization is not a legitimate...
caterpillarcowboy: mikehudack: First it was don’t send out press releases and now it’s don’t use SEO. It’s like marketing is somehow dirty because it’s only used to “make up for a bad product.” Bullshit. Marketing is important. Even the best products need to be marketed. Google had marketing and PR departments. Say what you will about About.com, but it was a great business and it was...

Hops and Chops moves to Spitfire (2219 4th Ave) in...

Hopefully, it means that we get to run into Jonathan, Mike, Darrin, and the rest of the Picnik team more often too. hopsandchops: This led to a lengthy Hops and Chops debate about where our migration would lead us — @daryn ended it with...

WatchWatch
I love the Intel rockstar ad campaign with USB creator Ajay Bhatt. Well, turns out that’s not actually him in the ads, but Conan had the real Ajay on the Tonight Show the other night, and it was pretty awesome. (If nothing else, skip to the last minute, it’s classic)

Gourmet, 68, to Die →
Wow, sad news. After nearly 70 years of publication, Gourmet magazine is shutting down. My mom has subscribed to Gourmet for as long as I can remember, and we always pick up a few copies a year. It’ll be missed.

Caffe Vita Public Brewing School
Last week I attended Caffe Vita’s Public Brewing School, and it was a fantastic learning experience. The class was led by Andy, Caffe Vita’s barista trainer, and Mason, who travels the world buying their green coffee beans. Mason started out the night by talking about the history of Vita’s green coffee bean buying program, and their current focus on Farm-Direct. It was really...
