Lost my iPhone...
Yesterday, I walked out of Jai Thai after lunch, and chatted with a friend outside for a minute before realizing I left my iPhone at the table. I walked back in to get it, but our table had already been re-seated, and sadly neither the waiter nor the new diners seemed to have any idea what I was talking about. I even tried calling it from the restaurant phone, but it had been turned off, and went...
Cremant Closing?
I’ve been to Cremant, a French restaurant in Madrona, a handful of times since they first opened, and had a great meal there on Saturday night - an amazing scallop appetizer, and perfect steak frites. The weather.
Personal gossip.
Celebrity gossip.
Of course you’d like to think that most of your daily conversation is weighty and witty but instead everyone chats about...

I just got this book from Amazon tonight, so I haven’t read much of it yet, but the premise is solid.
Michael Ruhlman describes the ratios behind different basic recipes (doughs, stocks, sauces, etc..), and why they work. The idea here being that once you’ve got the key ratios down, you have the fundamentals to succeed without following a cookbook verbatim.
For the most part,...
