iPhone Home Screen Strategies
I keep my first page clean too, but with a couple different choices:

In common: Messages, Calendar, Camera, Photos, Maps, Settings, and Tumblr
Added: Facebook, OpenTable, TweetDeck, Contacts, and Clock
Not installed: Google, Todo, and Birdfeed(?)
Demoted: Weather, Notes

I also put calendar, clock, settings, and camera in my four corners, so I can get to them by feel.
