Farmers market find: Ground Cherries
Today was the first time I’d ever seen or heard of a ground cherry. They are a relative of the tomato, and look like a little yellow tomatillo, with a papery-husk around the fruit. They taste like a persimmon, or a sweet, slightly papaya-flavored tomato, and are delicious. The girl at the stand gave me some ideas on what to do with them, but I’ll probably eat the entire bowl just like this.
