Pump Up the Volume came out at the beginning of my freshman year of high school, and I remember thinking that pirate radio was the greatest thing ever. It was illegal, required broadcasting gear, and could only be found if you knew when and where to tune it (and if you were close enough to the super-weak broadcast signals). How could you possibly get cooler than that?
Nowadays, we take for granted that you can stream whatever you want out to the internet with a couple clicks, but it’s really pretty damn incredible.
