Paul Graham says:
I like to find (a) simple solutions (b) to overlooked problems (c) that actually need to be solved, and (d) deliver them as informally as possible, (e) starting with a very crude version 1, then (f) iterating rapidly.
As always, it’s a good read. I tend to agree with Paul, except that I like to at least turn out a somewhat decent-looking first release. While I understand the idea of having someone understand the product versus judging the appearance, the UI and overall design play a very big role in usability and utility, and therefore the understandability.
I certainly wish I had more skill in that area, so that my crude/informal prototypes would be a little more polished.
