Tuneage Loves Cover Songs
I was actually just thinking about this, after posting a song that very much fits this criteria to me. Two other songs that immediately come to mind are Hallelujah and Hurt. With regards to the latter, Cash had a real way about him of taking other people’s songs and making them his own.
p.s. that Shins cover of We Will Become Silhouettes is one of my all time favorites.
One of my favorite things about music is that once a song is out there, anyone with the chops to play the tune can whip up their own version of it. Of course there are good covers and bad covers, but if you ask me, the best cover songs are the ones that aren’t just a regurgitation of the original, but rather explore an aspect of the song not found in the original.
