There is a great discussion about this over on Fred’s original post, and I’ve posted my thoughts (1 & 2) there, but basically, I agree.
Video comments are a novelty, and while you can make some very valid arguments about the power of video as a communication medium, in this context their benefits really don’t come close, in my opinion, to outweighing their drawbacks.
Video as a blog comment to me is a backwards move and because of that I do not think that we will see any serious adoption on it anytime soon.
