If the [car] battery loses its charge, the trunk and gas cap cannot be opened using the buttons located in the console… The only way to release the trunk is to unscrew and remove the cup holder, then remove the hard panel below the cupholder to reveal a loop. Pulling the loop in the direction indicated by the arrow will release the trunk lid.
Doh. I guess I shouldn’t have disconnected the battery then closed the trunk (which is where the battery is). Thank goodness for google.
