We ate at Alinea over two years ago, and it still sits in my mind as one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.  While some restaurants push experimentation, often at the cost of flavor (WD-50, i’m looking at you), every dish at Alinea was an exploration in eating; a fun discovery in each bite, yet always putting pleasure and satisfaction over just plain weird — although some things, like the pillow of scented air, or the smouldering pile of eucalyptus leaves covering a morsel of meat, did require a little suspension of cynicism.
While our menu was different, these illustrations capture the spirit of the meal perfectly. I hope to go back someday.
