Not sure exactly what this “sums up”.

Yes, merchants would probably be happy to pay to have bad reviews hidden (maybe they already do?), but that doesn’t make it any less damaging to the community. I know there are a lot of bogus reviews, and competitors trashing each other, and those should policed/removed, but removing legitimate bad reviews is just lame.
