Crafty Clever

You may be on to something, but I think the bitlypreview.js also accidentally gets inserted sometimes when you’ve got the bit.ly firefox add-on installed, and you’re copying and pasting html into the tumblr post editor or using the tumblr bookmarklet.

Awhile back I was having problems with my tumblr crashing IE7,  and it was choking on calls into the bit.ly library when the library wasn’t loaded.

I just noticed this in a tumblr entry

<script src=”http://s.bit.ly/bitlypreview.js” language=”javascript”></script>

Clever. Crafty, clever.

(And if bitly preferred I didn’t highlight this, just let me know)

I also noticed that the urls published out to twitter from tumblr look suspiciously like bit.ly urls. Maybe the bit.ly folks are going to provide tumblr with some of the analytics they’ve been discussing (or working on).
