Happy Amazoniversary TeachStreet!
One year ago today, Dave, Scott, Joseph, Greg, Lily, Phil, and I joined Amazon.
Looking back to the time leading up to this deal (thanks timehop for all of the daily reminders), we explored a lot of different options for how to keep the team together, and got pretty far down the road in a few scenarios before choosing this path. In retrospect, we made a lot of good decisions, but man there were times when I wanted to slap Dave Schappell!
As an aside, I’ll never forget coming home from the hospital the day after Dewey was born, and the first flowers that we received were from the CEO of a company we were in talks with at the time. That was pretty cool.
Coming in to Amazon, I didn’t really know what to expect. I’ve only spent one short stint at a large company before, which was at a very different company, and at a very different time in my career. While it has certainly been a big change from the startup world, and a wild ride through the daily deals space this past year, I’ve been having lots of fun, learning a ton, being challenged, and am super-proud of everything my team has developed over the past twelve months.
It’s amazing seeing how fast Amazon continues to grow and evolve even after 18 years, and I’m thankful for this opportunity to be part of it.
Onward!
