35

My 35th birthday was last week, and it got me to thinking about all the big things in my life that have happened in the “5” years.

Age 20 (1996): I moved to Seattle, with no plans beyond finishing school, and met Brooke. We got married 9 years later.

Age 25 (2001): eNIC, the company I was working for, was acquired a week before my birthday, and Brooke & I took a road trip to a friend’s wedding in Napa Valley with a fistful of cash. That’s where we were on 9/11. Two days later, Brooke’s dad passed away.

Age 30 (2006): After living in brand new places for years, we bought a 110 year old house. We’ve been fixing it up ever since. I also got in a fight with my boss, who I had worked for and been friends with for years, and quit my job. A few months later, David and I started Eyejot.

Age 35 (now): Dewey was born, and with two kids, a wonderful wife, and the best dog ever, things are really good.

Plus, there’s three more months left in the year, so who knows what else might happen!
